Acai Berry: A Guide To Pronunciation
Tropicana a very famous drink company more commonly known for orange juice has made quite a large mistake in their Acai Berry advertising. In an attempt to jump onto the bandwagon and supply the much in demand Acai Berry to customers Tropicana unleashed an advertisement that made for some interesting entertainment. In the advertisement the pronunciation for Acai Berry is incorrect and it’s not clear whether they just didn’t know how to pronounce it (maybe they didn’t think to ask anyone or do any research on it?), or if they did it on purpose to impress the advert upon our minds.
Well they certainly made an impression for most people. For the record, Acai berry is pronounced “A-Sigh-EE”. Popular mispronunciations include “A-Kai” and “A-Sigh”. Let’s face it, it’s a very unusual word and difficult to pronounce correctly if you have not encountered it before, but surely a company who makes it their business to sell this stuff to you should at least know what the stuff they are selling is. This isn’t the first time Acai berry has been splashed over our television screens and the media attention it is receiving cannot be matched by any other health fruit at the moment. However, Tropicana may need to rethink their next advertising campaign.
